Pizza sauce. Thick, zesty, tangy with a hint of sweetness…mmmm. It’s been on the to do list for a while and here it is. Just like all my recipes, it’s simple in ingredients, it’s simple to make, it’s simply delicious.
2 large cloves garlic, pressed
1 14.5 oz can crushed tomatoes
¼ C onion, minced
4 T tomato paste
1 T Basil
½ t Salt
1 t Apple Cider Vinegar
1 t pure Maple syrup
Saute onion and garlic in water or vegetable broth until tender.
Add crushed tomatoes and tomato paste, stirring until smooth.
Add spices,vinegar and syrup.
Turn heat on low and simmer 30 minutes.
Makes about 1 pint. Freezes well. Can be used as dipping sauce.
This sauce is so thick, making it the perfect bed for all the delicious veggies. Get creative and add squash, zucchini, purple onions or mushrooms, artichokes and olives. The sky is the limit so go crazy!
